How efficient is your global payroll delivery and management? Automated processes and human capital management (HCM) integrations are needed now more than ever in the global industry involving multi-country payroll, as presented in GPMI’s free on-demand webinar, “Automation and Integrations: Achieving Execution Excellence in Global Payroll.

Sponsored by Payslip, presenter Mary Holland, CPP, Chief Customer Officer at Payslip, guides attendees with the steps and tools needed to achieve execution excellence within their own companies and what that efficiency looks like in practice.

The webinar covers key points, including the following:

  • The power of combined automation and integration capabilities
  • How to overcome blockers and chokepoints
  • What execution and excellence looks like

“In today’s world, I think the theme is to try to get everything as integrated as possible,” said Holland, kicking off the class with a poll asking attendees about their current integration capabilities.

According to the conducted poll, attendees responded with the following:

  • 47%—"We have an HCM system, but no unified process for data flows”
  • 40%—"Limited connections, lots of manual data transfers”
  • 12%—"No integrated data flows between payroll, HR, and finance”
  • 1%—No Response

Integrations, Holland explains, include a unified work model of payroll, HR, benefits, and finances. An automated workflow involving each department validating and notifying one another, creates execution excellence. Thus, a less efficient workflow is created when more manual work is involved. Integrating robotic process automation (RPA) accomplishes this by pulling data from multiple systems for payroll processing and reducing manual work.

“We want to pinpoint accuracy by using automation, integration, and validation, which are all of the pieces of RPA, to be able to get reporting and information that lets us know how many people were paid,” said Holland. “Was there an anomaly in the inputs versus the outputs? We want to make sure you are aware of new taxes coming in, and so on.”

Holland added: “Using the information of RPA, you’ll be able to look at the files, do a comparison, get variance reports, and make sure you have all the tools in place to be efficient.”

Holland advises seeking payroll providers that can provide integration and automated workflow between each key department and create standardization across the organization.

“With global payroll, it’s always very important to be able to select payroll providers in-country that are going to provide you with expertise and excellence,” Holland said. “If you have 50 countries, there’s probably going to be 50 things happening. Analyze what you think is currently standard and what technology are you currently using.”

Holland lists the many benefits of execution excellence, including reducing manual work, standardization of processes, and reducing operational risks.

“We’re looking at the best use of the employees and the individuals of the organization,” Holland said. “When we say reducing manual work, you’re also reducing the risk of errors and we’re actually saving time. That’s huge because we can have those people in the organization do more strategic work.”

Attendees can earn up to 1.0 RCH or 0.10 Continuing Education Units (CEUs) for this webinar on demand.

“Automation and Integrations: Achieving Execution Excellence in Global Payroll” is currently available until 31 January 2023.
