New Industry Technology Innovations Unveiled

PSS23
By Felicia DeInnocentiis

As the payroll workforce continuously evolves, so must technology. At PayrollOrg’s free Payroll Solutions Showcase (PSS), professionals in the industry gather to learn about the newest tech innovations ready for implementation, master new techniques, and network with peers from around the world.

“We’ve developed this event to give you a convenient and comprehensive look at payroll products and services,” said PayrollOrg Executive Director Dan Maddux.

PSS ran live virtually on 2-3 March with more than 1,400 people in attendance. The showcase remains as a free, on-demand event for anyone who missed it (or those who want a refresher) through 31 October.

Between 2 March and 31 March, PSS attendees also had the chance to provide demo ratings for the Showcase Standout Awards to enter for a chance to win a complimentary registration for the 41st Annual Payroll Congress held in May.

Expert Panel Discussions

Attendees participated in four new expert panel discussions during the live event, where they shared questions and concerns via chat. The following panels can be found on demand under the “Central Theater” tab in the PSS platform:

  1. The Future Is Now
  2. The Demand for Skilled Payroll Talent
  3. Post-Pandemic Use of Net Pay
  4. The Great Separation

Attendees of the live and on-demand panel discussions are eligible to earn up to 4 RCHs.

During the panel “The Future Is Now,” attendees learned about the latest trends in store for the future of payroll tech, including insights into data transformation, automation, employee location tracking, and hybrid scheduling within global payroll operations. Pete Tiliakos, Founder and Principal Analyst & Advisor at GxT Advisors, was the moderator among the panel experts.

“I feel like we’re in the golden age of payroll, and it’s so refreshing to see all this [new technology] coming about,” said Tiliakos.

Through the live chat function, panel attendees shared their own personal experiences and comments on insights provided by the experts.

“IRS real time updates is essential—this technology is fantastic,” commented Lynda Westbrook, CPP.

Networking With Vendors, Peers

Between panels, live attendees also had a front row seat to the latest innovations from payroll vendors through their demo presentations. These 10 unique demos are available on demand under the “Demo Sessions Theater” tab and the “rapid! Demo Theater” tab.

One vendor, rapid!, hosted three individual demo presentations, including “How Can rapid! Be a Banking Benefit to Your Employees,” presented by Burke Rice, Senior Director: Western U.S. and rapid! representative Jack Murphy.

“It helps to understand the mentality of your employees and coworkers,” Burke said during the live presentation. “We ask what we can do to alleviate financial stress among workers and that’s through paycards.”

During all live demos and walkthroughs, PSS hosted text chats and question boxes so attendees could provide live feedback to both presenters and their peers.

“Thank you so much! We use rapid!, and it was still very informative,” commented Marcia Tillery, CPP, in the chat.

Under the “Networking” tab, attendees are brought into the Networking Lounge Chat room, a hub for all attendees to connect and share what they learned at the live event. Attendees can also use the “Who’s Here” tab to see who is accessing the on-demand event and use direct messaging to get in touch with their payroll peers.

“This was my first time attending this event,” said Maria Ruiz, CPP, through the Networking Lounge Chat. “I really enjoyed all the demos and panel discussions. I look forward to attending next year!”

Get Social

Under the “Engage” tab, attendees of both the live and on-demand event can also earn exclusive badges and can view the Badge Leaderboard. Badges can be earned by attending PSS expert panels, demo sessions, and interacting with the Networking Lounge and session chat functions. Attendees can

also engage with vendor and peer social media accounts under the “Engage” and “Get Social” tabs. The official Twitter tag for the event is #payshowcase23.

“Use the tag to connect with your fellow attendees on social media by taking a Showcase Selfie or sharing a takeaway from the event,” Maddux said.

Register now for the on-demand PSS event on the PayrollOrg website under the “Conferences” tab. Invite your whole team to attend.
