GPW_23 SponsPayrollOrg (PAYO) celebrated the sixth annual Global Payroll Week® (GPW) 1-5 May. The weeklong event was dedicated to increasing the skill levels for global payroll professionals through multiple education, training, and networking opportunities. The weeklong event recognized payroll professionals around the world for their essential efforts to pay employees accurately and on time, every time.

A Week of Educational Content

One of the main goals of GPW is to provide educational opportunities for global payroll professionals. During GPW, PayrollOrg hosted two complimentary webinars for the global payroll community. Individuals could register to attend the presentation “2023: The State of Global Payroll” and a panel discussion with GPW sponsors on “The Evolving Global Payroll Landscape.” Both GPW webinars are currently available on demand, and all attendees are eligible to earn 1 recertification credit hour (RCH) per webinar.

Exclusive Industry Insight

PAYO hosted the annual “Getting the World Paid” survey as part of its GPW celebration. The annual survey is an important tool to gauge industry trends in the rapidly evolving global payroll landscape. Nearly 300 global payroll professionals from countries around the world participated in the survey in the months leading up to GPW. Their responses revealed insights on topics such as technology, standardization, service providers, and data accuracy.

Full results from the survey were published on the PayrollOrg website during GPW, and select results were also used to create a series of infographics for global payroll professionals to share with their online communities.

Recognition for Global Payroll Professionals

PayrollOrg held its fourth annual Global Payroll Titan award program in conjunction with GPW. The Global Payroll Titan award program celebrates, empowers, and recognizes the outstanding professionals responsible for processing multi-country payrolls.

Nominations opened on 16 February, with PayrollOrg receiving over 30 nominations. All eligible nominees then moved forward to a public “People’s Choice” online voting in April, where votes were cast for the nominees that participants felt best represented a Global Payroll Titan. Each nomination was then reviewed by a panel of global payroll professionals, and one nominee emerged as the clear winner.

On the final day of GPW, Shakil Gour, Vice President and Head of Global Payroll Product for Neeyamo, was revealed as the 2023 Global Payroll Titan. Gour manages a team of more than 500 payroll professionals, has implemented comprehensive training programs, and has successfully delivered for customers across more than 120 countries. See the article in this issue.

Social Media Impact

Social media was a popular way to engage the international community and share in GPW festivities online. Daily messages that celebrated the global payroll industry and the role they play in getting the world’s workforce paid were shared by global payroll professionals across Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram using the official event hashtag #GlobalPayWeek.

GPW aims to elevate the visibility of the global payroll industry. The success of GPW was made possible with support from payroll professionals and payroll providers around the globe and our official GPW sponsors, which included the following:

  • ADP
  • CloudPay
  • Immedis

Be sure to save the date for the 2024 Global Payroll Week celebration, 29 April-3 May 2024.
