Global Payroll Pros Set to Present at
4th Annual Forum

By Felicia DeInnocentiis

International payroll professionals will get more global education than ever before at the Global Payroll Management Institute’s (GPMI) 4th Annual Global Payroll Management Forum, May 14-18 in Long Beach, California. The event will take place during the American Payroll Association’s 37th Annual Congress at the Long Beach Convention and Entertainment Center.

More Than Four Days of Education

Global payroll is, now more than ever, a rapidly evolving field that needs to keep up with the growing complexities of technology, businesses, and international laws. Returning and new attendees can experience more than four days of enhanced educational workshops, sessions, and the Global Payroll Pavilion.

Topics to explore at this year’s forum will include:

  • Complex global compliance and employment issues
  • Country-specific payroll laws and regulations
  • Global strategies and global payroll delivery models

Networking Opportunities

In addition to receiving important international payroll updates and education, attendees can take advantage of the opportunity to network with more than 2,000 fellow professionals from across the globe who work not only in payroll, but also in accounts payable, finance, human resources, and benefits.

“The Global Payroll Management Forum is an unparalleled opportunity to network with payroll professionals, share knowledge and ideas, and learn about new technology and best practices,” said Nicole Hoffert, CPP, VP Tax Manager of Global Payroll Services—Regulatory Specialties with Wells Fargo. “This event goes beyond the classroom to offer information from vendors, motivational speakers, and panel discussions led by industry experts.”

Last Year’s Success

During the 36th Annual Congress in National Harbor, Maryland, last May, GPMI held its 3rd Annual Forum, which attracted payroll professionals from all over the world. Along with more than 33 workshops and the Global Payroll Pavilion, the forum recognized its first recipient of the GPMI Global Vision Award, Max van der Klis-Busink, RPP, of the Netherlands.

Of the workshop sessions on global payroll, 13 concerned country-specific compliance issues including workshops addressing payroll in Canada, France, India, Japan, the Netherlands, and South Africa.

Sharon Tayfield, MCIPP, Senior Account Manager of Global Outsourcing at BDO UK LLP, attended the 2018 Forum for the first time and highly recommends the event for all global payroll professionals.

“GPMI offers a fantastic opportunity to network with global payroll professionals and provides a forum for sharing updates on country-specific issues, but also on the bigger issues facing the profession,” Tayfield said. “Having the ability to speak to global service providers—all under one roof—is an added bonus. The sessions were outstanding in terms of quality and content, and I would like to thank the GPMI team for putting together the conference.”

Jesse Canfield, FPC, Senior Software Support Engineer with Symmetry Software, said he especially liked the Forum’s emphasis on education.

“I really enjoyed learning more about the global payroll landscape,” Canfield said. “The global sessions were quite informative.”
