Global Payroll Week 2024 Provided Education, Recognition

Global Payroll Week 2024 Provided Education, Recognition
By Cynthia Crise Acosta

Global Payroll Week 2024 Provided Education, RecognitionPayrollOrg (PAYO) celebrated the seventh annual Global Payroll Week (GPW) 29 April–3 May. The weeklong campaign was dedicated to enhancing the expertise of global payroll professionals through multiple education, training, and networking opportunities. The week celebrated payroll professionals globally for their vital efforts to ensure accurate and timely payment to employees.

A Week of Educational Content

One primary objective of GPW is to offer educational opportunities for global payroll professionals. Throughout the week, PayrollOrg offered two complimentary webinars for the global payroll community.

The first webinar, “Harnessing Technology for Global Payroll Transformation,” was an insightful panel discussion with GPW sponsors on the latest technologies reshaping global payroll.

The second webinar, “2024: The State of Global Payroll,” dove into results from the 2024 “Getting the World Paid” survey and offered perspectives on the current global payroll landscape.

Both GPW webinars are currently available on demand, and all attendees are eligible to earn 1 recertification credit hour (RCH) per webinar.

In addition to the two webinars, PAYO published and shared new content for the global payroll community. This included two new white papers: A Global Payroll Control Framework for Multinational Organizations and Combining Flexibility AND Standardisation in Your Global Payroll Strategy. Three mini email guides shared throughout the week highlighted global payroll topics that are top of mind for today’s payroll leaders.

Exclusive Industry Insight

PAYO conducted its annual “Getting the World Paid” survey in conjunction with GPW. This survey serves as a gauge for industry trends in the ever-changing global payroll arena. More than 600 payroll professionals worldwide took the survey, sharing valuable insights on technology, standardisation, service providers, and data accuracy.  Full results from the survey were published on the PayrollOrg website during GPW.

Recognition for Global Payroll Professionals

PayrollOrg hosted its fifth annual Global Payroll Titan award program in the months leading up to GPW. The Global Payroll Titan award program celebrates, empowers, and recognizes the outstanding professionals responsible for processing multi-country payrolls.

Nominations opened on 15 February, with PayrollOrg receiving more than 30 nominations. All eligible nominees then moved forward to a public “People’s Choice” online voting in April, where votes were cast for the nominees that participants felt best represented a Global Payroll Titan. Each nomination was then reviewed by a panel of global payroll professionals, and one nominee emerged as the clear winner.

On the last day of GPW, Priti Rughani, CPP, Associate Director of Global Payroll at King & Spalding LLP, was named the 2024 Global Payroll Titan. Rughani is a dedicated and experienced payroll professional with more than 25 years of experience. She leverages her experience to help organizations deliver and manage multicounty payroll in effective and innovative ways (see separate article in this issue).

Social Media Impact

Social media was a popular way to engage the international community and share in GPW festivities online. Each day, global payroll professionals took to platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Instagram, using the official event hashtag #GlobalPayWeek to share daily messages highlighting the significance of the global payroll industry and its pivotal role in ensuring the compensation of the world’s workforce. Overall, the campaign reached 391,500 people through social media, with content receiving 585 interactions, 425 shares, and 533 likes.

GPW aims to elevate the visibility of the global payroll industry. The success of GPW was made possible with support from payroll professionals and payroll providers around the globe and our official GPW sponsors, which included the following:

Global Payroll Titan Award Sponsor:

  • Dayforce

GPW 2024 Sponsors:

  • ADP
  • Cloudpay
  • Immedis, a UKG Company

Be sure to celebrate with us next year as we celebrate Global Payroll Week, 28 April-2 May 2025.
